Does anyone know of an application (3rd party or whatever) that can remove, and or disable IE's functionality entirely?

For the umpteenth time, in the last few weeks, IE's connection settings got set to Proxy only, thus affecting every connection that I have on my computer.

I reset it and things are working now, but I'm looking for a more permanent solution.

Suggestions?

I don't remember if Vista or XP have the ability, but Win 7 will let you uninstall IE as part of Windows features. Otherwise I think you're probably stuck; it's in the core .dlls.

Try IE7Pro (http://www.ie7pro.com/). It's more for scripts and plugins but it's possible it could do what you need, it's probably the most powerful IE modification you can get.

On a related note, don't use IE!

You're probably sunk.

Its not so much IE being bad.

As the core internet connection libraries that IE use being bad.

Well. That's my guess. Can't speak for Win 7 but its held true for older versions.

I'm running Vista. But thanks for the help. I've looked around, and asked a couple of my friends about it, and there doesn't seem to be any program able to remove IE from Vista. I'm considering the upgrade to Win7.

Anyhow, thanks for the help anyways.

explorer.exe runs the taskbar and any windows you open on your computer (like browsing your local files).
